Dunder Mifflin Infinity - 10/4/07
While there were definitely some funny moments, I have a few complaints about last night’s episode of The Office.
First, don’t call it hour long episode when all you’re going to do is stretch a half hour episode into 36 minutes and then fill it with a ton of commercials. Every ten minutes there was 3 minutes of commercials. C’mon NBC, you’re better than that.
Second, sometimes they go WAY over the top, and the driving into the lake scene is a perfect example. Even the way the writers set it up was terrible. It would have been hysterical if it had just happened on its own, if the GPS unit had told him take a right and he just did it. Instead, he saw the lake in front of him and hit the gas. Really? The often give you something to connect you to how Michael is boss despite being obviously incompetent, but then they give you scenes like this where you have to wonder how he breathes on his own.
Lastly, I’m not sure I’m really enjoying the evil Ryan plotline. It has its moments (like Ryan asking Pam out), but I sort of enjoyed the suffering temp Ryan more.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some solid moments - Jim and Pam being outted by Toby was excellent, as well as the reactions of the rest of the offce. Overall though, I just couldn’t enjoy it because there were SO many commercials.
Next week.
Betting Recap:
Who will the first interview scene (along, talking to the camera) be with?
The first interview scene was with Dwight, who was reacting to Pam and Jim by saying “I think they could both do better.” Probably my favorite line of the episode.
Will Jim and Pam tell anyone else in the office that they are dating?
Oh yeah, the whole office knows now!
Will Ryan threaten to fire Michael or tell him he needs improve?
There were enough veiled threats to give this a yes.
Ryan and Kelly will:
They spoke privately, but they did not officially get back together.
In the next episode, Dunder Mifflin will be launching a website. Michael will:
Sadly, Michael was not that interested in the website. “None of the above” was the correct answer.
Who will be the first couple to kiss in the next episode?
No one kissed in this episode. Pam kissing Jim on the cheek does not count!
