Friends With Benefits

This week was a bit tamer than past episodes, allowing much of the subplots to begin to build: Janet was invited by Susan to attend a Women’s Auxiliary luncheon - something Bruce had asked her to do for the good of his career. But it was Janet who fit right in, jumping at the chance to join once the two of them were invited to be members. This distraction hit just as Janet’s husband, Roger was fired - not something the high society club is going to want to hear and he decides to keep from her. This leads to a potential future plot line between Roger and Susan - the only one he confides in about losing his job - I’m sure they’ll be speaking about it next episode.

As for the Decker’s rocky ‘open’ marriage, trouble came knocking this episode in the form of Trina’s high school sweetheart. They just happened to recognize one another in the airport as Trina was seeing Tom off on another flight assignment - love how that works out. When he returns home, the boyfriend, Luke, is still there, which leads to some tense moments. But they work it out, as they always do, by inviting him to their bedroom.

As for Laura and the teacher, he attempts to get her to speak her mind in front of the class by changing the final to be oral rather than written, but she’s unwilling to be convinced. However, after the final is out of the way, their romance is able to begin because he is “no longer her teacher.”
