What happens when you disappear into the vast desert of Death Valley where no televisions exist (or at least at your campground) but none other than perhaps one of the best and exciting “backdoor” evictions in Big Brother history.  The Denzel Washington wannabe, Mattie is evicted single handed by a previously evicted member of the house, James.  I have to admit although I missed putting up some questions last week it was quite exciting to come back to two full episodes unknowing what happened but that I would find out in one night.

It came as no real surprise that the houseguests were separated as couples and now play the game as individuals.  If there is one thing about Big Brother it is normally that they cannot keep a secret for very long (Eric from BB8 is one exception).  As soon as that siren was announced, even though they said it could happen at anytime over the next few weeks - it was almost a given it was to happen within the next live episode.

I think the couple aspect of Big Brother is slowly growing a little old.  In the beginning it was a cute way to putting a new twist on the show and sure enough we had several pairs that didn’t like each other and let their feelings show.  But now everyone has, well, settled down together and what little bickering is done isn’t making for good Big Brother television.

The Oscars are over with no real surprises. I had hoped that more of the movies I had actually seen would have won, but at least Ratatouille won. Granted its biggest competition was Surf’s Up (the trailer was bad enough - how could this film even be nominated?

Besides the absence of Fox’s 24 from the lineup the hardest thing to swallow from the second longest writers strike in Hollywood was going to be the canceling or gutting of the 80th Academy Awards. This is an awards show that has only been canceled in past years due to (declared) war and just thinking that it could have been shown much like the Golden Globes were this year put a very solid ball of unhappiness in my stomach. But just in time, the WGA settled their strike and the show, truly can go on.

Big Brother is not playing fair this year. The Veto Ceremony which locks in the final, in this case couple to be evicted before the “Live Eviction” seems at least this week to have been pushed up by one day. So instead of having two days to get your picks in - we only have a few hours.
