Big Brother 9: Premiers 2/12/2008
Hard to believe summer is upon us already…wait a minute it isn’t! What is a new Big Brother doing on the schedule in February instead of July?
For us fans, we “thankfully” have the “Writer’s Strike of 2007″ to thank for another new (yet reported to be shorter) season of Big Brother. It’s time houseguests and fans alike for Big Brother 9!
The following overview of the show will come as no surprise for fans but for those not in tune with Big Brother this is how the whole thing works. Big Brother is shown three times a week. Thursday is the main show which consists of a nominated pair of contestants by the “Head of Household” that are to be “evicted” from the house by other houseguests. A weekend show normally consists of what has happened in the house as a result of the person evicted a recap of who won the next Head of Household competition and who the next pair are to be evicted. A Tuesday episode shows the “Veto Ceremony” where the two nominee’s compete in the chance of vetoing the nominations.
This brings us back to Thursday where the whole craziness begins again. Intermixed throughout each show are segments from the “diary room” where contestants speak privately into the camera. The show normally throws in some surprises, like extended competitions which begin one night and conclude the next episode, “Double Eviction” nights where not one but two houseguests leave; surprise guests which may include former members of the house from previous season’s of the show, and a twist to each show to keep old viewers (like me) interested even more.
All that being said - here are the new slew of contests waiting and willing to expose themselves to the only reality show on television that shows what happens after the credits roll. Some will eat and exercise. Others will be playful while plotting. Ultimately only one; be it the schemer, the lovable, the mediator, or the strategic player - he or she will become the winner of Big Brother 9!
