The Constant; Desmond Time Travel Episode

Season 4: The Constant. Desmond Time Travel - 2/28/08

Alright ladies and gentlemen, now we are heading down a path that may legitimately lead to some answers…If you’re a rocket scientist! Well, actually, we’ve thought that we were getting answers in the past too - so who knows what to believe. But, honestly, this time it feels differently, right? There are new characters from off the island who seem to know something, right? Isn’t it true that we are no longer insulated to island people (either survivors or natives…)? Am I trying too hard to convince myself that we might actually be getting somewhere? Are all of these questions beginning to annoy you? Me too.

So let’s examine where we are and where we may be heading. Right now it is clear that there is something having to do with electromagnetism and physics is driving a majority of questions pertaining to the island. It is clear that there are time warps and time travel as a result of this electromagnetism surrounding the island. So this begs the following question: Leading up to this episode, what can be explained by or related to electromagnetism? Here are some thoughts - 1. The Hatch; perhaps the hatch kept these electromagnetic anomolies under control so that the planes could deliver food to the natives. 2. Walt being able to communicate with Locke and ultimately saving Locke’s life. 3. Charlie speaking with Hurley after he gets off the island - in the Mental Hospital. 4. Anything and everything having to do with Desmond. 5. The shack and the people that have sat in the rocking chair. 6. So much more… 7. If the writers are somehow misleading us, they are genius.

Also - who is helping Sayid and Desmond on the boat? Do we think it’s the pilot? Do we think it’s…Michael? Stay tuned!

Bottom line - for those of us who thought that there was a simple answer to what is happening on LOST (everyone is in purgatory to bring back an oldie but a goodie), sorry. It looks like the answer and tying everything together will be at least as complex as the questions thus far. And you know what? If this show didn’t excite us enough, I think that we should all feel a renewed sense of exhilaration for what is to come.
