Final 7 Perform - 4/18/07
Sort of a strange, off night for American Idol. Simon seemed particularly tense through parts of the episode. The performances were good overall, but with the exception of Jordin and Melinda, there wasn’t anything to really write home about. Unless you want to talk about Simon’s comments on Sanjaya, that is. It’s like he finally unleashed some built up anger from the past few weeks. Good times.
Some quick thoughts on how each performer did:
Phil Stacey: I’m very confused at the moment. The order of the universe clearly states that this should be Phil’s week to go. But he was actually pretty good last night, and got some good comments from the judges. I think he might be hanging around another week.
Jordin Sparks: Phenomenal. I’m surprised that none of the judges commented on the orange garbage bag she was wearing though.
Sanjaya Malakar: Um…the uh…backup singers were really good!
Lakisha Jones: Mmmmmmmmmm…..hamburger in the morning.
Chris Richardson: Consistently inconsistent. Just not a good week for Chris. Possibly trouble.
Melinda Doolittle: On the flipside, great week for Melinda. I think she needs to stick with the longer hair.
Blake Lewis: He really does have a really good sense of himself. He’s laid of the beat-boxing for a few weeks now. I’m sort of starting to miss it.
I think we’re looking at Phil, Chris, and Sanjaya in the bottom three. I’m betting Chris is going home tonight.

For how many of the performances will Paula be seen standing/dancing (the count is number of performances - Paula must be seen out of her chair DURING the performance)?
Only one. Paula could be seen standing and dancing during Melinda’s performance. Most of the other performances just were not dancing tunes.
How many of the guys will wear hats during the performances this week?
None. Sanjaya’s doo-rag was not a hat. In fact, Randy referred to it as a scarf. Whatever you want to call it, it was awful - yet, thousands of teenagers accross the country will be wearing one today.
